Former St Louis pupil Ryan Rafferty fantastic performance in his A Level examinations was acknowledged in an event organised by the examining body CCEA, to showcase the top achievers in Northern Ireland.

Ryan, currently studying a for Masters in Mechanical Engineering at Queens University of Belfast, was awarded first place in Northern Ireland for CCEA A-Level Technology and Design. This is a prestigious award for Ryan, his family and a first for the Technology Department in St Louis.

During his time at St Louis Ryan excelled in many areas. Along with being appointed Deputy Head Boy in his final year, Ryan had received many accolades including winning an Arkwright Scholarship and a Sentinus Gold Crest award.

It should not have come as too much of a surprise that Ryan’s A Level performance would be of such a high calibre. Two years ago Ryan was awarded first place in Northern Ireland for GCSE Engineering, so to follow this up with similar ranking in his A-Level Technology and Design is a unique achievement, but very much a reflection of his outstanding ability and talent. In his A-Level , Ryan obtained two A*’s, an A and a B, to gain entry into Queens for his Masters in Mechanical Engineering (M.Eng).

Ryan was joined at the event by his parents, Technology teacher, Mr Eamon McGlue and St. Louis Principal, Mr Kevin Martin.
