St Louis Grammar School, Kilkeel secured the Peadar Barry Sevens Shield for 2023. Hosted by St Patrick’s Grammar School, Downpatrick, this feast of fast flowing 'Sevens' football was a treat to those lucky enough to witness it.

There was some excellent football on display from the Under 15 boys, who represented their various Down Schools with distinction. So close was the competition, that often the bare minimum separated the sides.

In the Sheild Final, St. Louis emerged victorious by beating a strong St Malachy’s Castlewellan team on the ‘golden score’ rule after two periods of extra time. If it was a tense affair for the players, spare a thought for their coaches!

St. Louis management team of Mr Niall McAleenan, Mr. Anthony Monaghan, (assisted by PE PGCE placement student Mr Mark Rogan), were relieved to hear the final whistle, which sparked a euphoria of celebrations amongst the Mourne camp.
