Course Units - 6 units must be completed for the Subsidiary Diploma

Pupils must complete six units of work for the subsidiary diploma which will be selected from a range of 50 units by the teacher!

The selection of units will be chosen based upon the skills and prior knowledge of the pupils. Below is a sample of six units that may be selected:

• Health and safety in the engineering work place
• Mechanical Principles and Applications
• Mathematics for Engineering Technicians
• Properties and Applications of Engineering Materials
• Engineering Secondary and Finishing Techniques
• Engineering primary forming processes

Engineers work in all kinds of environments, from offices, laboratories and film studios to outdoors and underground.

Engineering today is closely linked with technology, and plays a major role in many technological devices and advances – thanks to engineers you might be reading this on your phone for example.

A Level Chemistry Entry Requirements

This qualification requires pupils to have:

7 GCSEs A*-C including grade B in Maths and other supporting subjects such as Science and English.

Engineering has given me skills such as using specialised technologies,being able create designs on computer aided packages and manufacture intricate products to a high degree of accuracy and quality. It was a really enjoyable experience,especially going to a robotic engineering competition in Edinburgh!
