A Level History

  • History is much more than reading about past events!
  • By studying History you will be able to build upon your knowledge and understanding of past events and the impact of those events on our world today.
  • This in turn gives you a better understanding of the consequences of past actions on civilis at ions and a greater empathy for people of different cultures today.

A Level History

GCE History can help develop and deploy a range of important skills such as collecting and evaluating information, independent thought, weighing up the evidence that you have found and putting a case together to support your conclusions.

By studying History you will be able to build upon your knowledge and understanding of past events and the impact those events have on our world today.

This in turn gives you a better understanding of the consequences of past actions on civilisations and a greater empathy for people of different cultures today.

History can open up a wide range of opportunities for further and higher education and interesting and rewarding careers.

Course Units - 2 at AS / 2 at A2

In each of the units at AS and A2 there are a number of options and you will study one option in each unit. The units are assessed through examinations.

  • AS 1: Historical investigations and interpretations - Germany 1919 - 1945

  • AS 2: Conflict and Change in Europe and Russia 1914 - 1941

  • A2 1: Change over time - Clash of Ideologies 1900 - 2000

  • A2 2: Historical investigations and interpretations - Partition of Ireland 1905 - 1923

 







A Level History

This qualification requires pupils to have:

7 GCSEs A*-C - Including English. Students should have obtained a grade B in History at GCSE.
